Though specifically targeted at 8 year old girls, these could make great gifts for 7, 8, 9, or even 10 year old girls (or boys) based on their interests. As always, these are gifts we’ve had success with first hand or have researched and plan to gift to our own 8 year old. I hope it’s helpful to you during this holiday season!

Find these and other family favorites conveniently linked on my storefront.

Ok, yes I have this on the gift ideas for toddlers and preschoolers, too, but if your 8 year old is like mine and appreciates a fort-like space when she wants to play or read in peace, then this air fort is going to be a hit for age 8, too!

Compatible with an iPad or Kindle Fire, OSMO Coding teaches the basics of coding in a hands-on, engaging, and highly entertaining way. We’ve had this for over a year and both girls still love playing with it.

Kids ages 3-12 use physical cards to insert into this audio player to have complete control over the audiobooks they want to listen to. Amazing for bedtime or quiet time, this Yoto Audiobook player is the gift that keeps on giving, as you can add new book cards as your child grows.

This one will work on both light and dark hair because instead of being chalk, it’s more like a lipstick consistency. Just apply and run a blow dryer over it. It will wash out in a single wash and make the fashionista 8 year old squeal with joy.

A big bang for your buck, they can share these disappearing ink pens with siblings and friends to write secret hidden messages and then reveal them with the special light on the back of the pen. So simple and so fun!

Your child will get a lot of leverage out of this durable and functional waterproof camera. Kaitlyn has used it for pictures and videos; it has silly filters and picture add ons. It can go into the tub, the pool, or the lake, as it is completely waterproof. A lot of fun for a good price.

Making learning an enjoyable experience with this interactive map. You can lay it on the floor or hang it on a wall; it acts like a giant touchpad which makes learning about the states, the climate, cities, countries, and more. A super cool combination of learning and fun.

Another item we can personally vouch for; this loom makes it super easy to create cute rings and bracelets. It is what kicked off their entrepreneurial pursuits in the neighborhood, selling these bracelets. An engaging pastime that they can do on their own without your assistance.

Also known as the only scooter you’ll ever need to purchase. This scooter is tough and solid, though it easily folds and unfolds as needed. It rolls smoothly and is easy to maneuver. Highly recommend this item for the kid that likes to play outside!

For the budding scientists, these are high-quality kits that will lead them through engaging and educational experiments thanks to easy step-by-set instructions. Everything you need in a single kit and a wide variety of topics, these kits are currently sitting at the very top of Kaitlyn’s wish list. The offer kits in coding, STEM, math, physics, chemistry, and even medicine (for the 14+ crowd).

In this adorable kit, she’ll learn the basics of hand sewing while completing several simple but cute projects like a headband, a stuffed animal, a wallet, a bracelet and more. A new skill makes a great gift idea!

My goodness this book has been well loved in our house over the years. A great bedtime book for the curious kid, it’s full of 1,111 facts shared through colorful pictures and illustrations, presented in a way that is super engaging for kids. Now your child might follow you around with “did you know…?” questions once receiving this, but I found it just as interesting as my kids did!

A classic for a reason, this toy can be brought anywhere and provides a fun challenge everywhere it goes. Kaitlyn got one several weeks ago and plays with it often, even watching YouTube videos with us to learn the best way to solve it quickly.

This is a great item for budding artists and designers. The pad itself is sturdy and the light is bright and makes tracing easy. The fact that it’s battery operated means it’s great for travel on planes or cars!

These are a great basic set of headphones that not only fold and unfold, but most importantly provide a comfortable fit for kids with even sensitive ears. The headband is adjustable so it can grow with them, too. They’ve held up well for us for over a year, which is pretty darn good for the price point.

Inflatable Fort
